Dr. Philip Lee, Associate Head and Assistant Professor of the Department of Economics and Finance of Hong Kong Shue Yan University, delivered a seminar titled “Teaching, Learning and Assessment in the Age of GenAI” at the International Alliance for Invitational Education World Conference 2025, held on 8 November 2025 at ELCHK Lutheran Secondary School, Hong Kong. The event attracted hundreds of participants, predominantly senior management from primary and secondary schools.

In his presentation, Dr. Lee addressed the challenges and opportunities that education faces in the era of GenAI. He emphasized the importance for educators to clearly understand the learning objectives of their teaching tasks before developing effective strategies to leverage advanced GenAI technologies to enhance teaching and learning. He emphasized the crucial role of secure assessments in ensuring that students retain essential knowledge for their future work. This relates to the fundamental level of Bloom’s Taxonomy, which involves remembering specific facts.

Furthermore, Dr. Lee pointed out the distinctions between secured assessments and continuous assessments. In addition to exams and in-class tests, he noted that in-person presentations and oral defences, supported by follow-up questions and feedback from teachers, can also serve as effective secured assessment methods.
