Dr. Philip Lee, Associate Head and Assistant Professor of Department of Economics and Finance, attended Heng An Standard Life (Asia) Limited’s business luncheon “Future Powered by Partnership”. During the event, Dr. Lee shared his research work, funded by Investor and Financial Education Council (IFEC), with stakeholders in the insurance sectors.

Dr. Lee highlighted that self-awareness of investment biases allows investors to make more informed and rational financial decisions. However, cultivating this self-awareness is rarely included in traditional secondary or tertiary education curricula. Drawing on the Big Five Model and relevant literature, Dr. Lee’s team developed an online gamified self-assessment platform that categorizes respondents' investment behaviors. Participants can complete a psychological test on the platform to gain insights into their unique investment tendencies, identify their unconscious biases, and receive tailored investment smart tips.

Dr. Lee appreciates the Heng An Standard Life (Asia) Limited to offer him such a precious opportunity to share his research work. It is always rewarding for him to share his research with audience beyond the academia. He is also excited to learn about an insurance innovation presented by Heng An at the event. He hopes this innovation achieves great success and paves the way for more opportunities in insurance innovation in Hong Kong.
