The team of three FinTech Year 4 Students, Heloise Chung, Hemsley Pang, Hu Chen (Renny), won the Merit Award in the student group under the track “Trusted AI & Data Science” at Techathon+ Competition, which is a flagship global university-wide entrepreneurship competition, jointly organized by Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) and 15 local universities & institutions.

During the competition, they were well prepared for their pitching and the Q&A session from the judges. Competing against undergraduate and postgraduate students from other universities and tertiary institutions, they got through two rounds of review and won the Merit Award, signifying their achievement.

Dr. Philip Lee, Associate Head of the Department of Economics and Finance and Director of the FinTech programme, highlighted that we educators focus on the students’ long-term success in entrepreneurship training and competitions. Entrepreneurship training and the journey are lifelong processes. The team successfully completed the Cyberport University Partnership Programme (CUPP). While they did not win the championship in the CUPP, they continue to work hard and thrive in another entrepreneurial competition, Techathon+. Mentoring the team in the CUPP 2025, Dr. Lee found it deeply rewarding to witness the students' growth. He also appreciated Dr. Roy Ho’s efforts on mentoring the FinTech students in the Techathon+ competition.
