This summer (Jul 2025), the BCom (Hons.) in Financial Technology programme collaborated with the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) to launch the InsurTech Talent Nurturing Internship Scheme. This pioneering initiative enables participating students to gain valuable, credit-bearing workplace experience while receiving full financial support to sit for a designated professional recognition exam offered by the CII. This combination significantly enhances students’ future employability across the finance, insurance, and technology sectors.

Altruist Financial Group Limited, our internship partner, has expressed high satisfaction with our student intern enrolled through this scheme. Mr. Alex Choi, the intern’s supervisor, praised the calibre of our students and highlighted that the FinTech programme equips them not only with strong domain knowledge to identify business challenges but also with the technological skills necessary to address these issues effectively.

Dr. Philip Lee, Assistant Professor and Director of the FinTech programme in the Department of Economics and Finance, expressed gratitude for the trust placed in our students by both Altruist Financial Group Limited and the CII. He emphasized the uniqueness of the internship programme, stating that it is the first and foremost scheme to integrate both workplace learning and professional qualifications. He also highly appreciated Altruist and the CII’s commitment to social responsibility in preparing future talent for InsurTech.
