On December 12th, Dr. Philip Lee, Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics and Finance and Associate Director of the Teaching and Learning Development Office, along with Mr. Bosco Tsin, Lecturer at the same department, participated in the Symposium of FinTech & Insurance. The event was co-organized by the Chartered Insurance Institute Hong Kong (CIIHK) and the Department of Economics and Finance at HKSYU.
The symposium was a resounding success, drawing a full-house audience with seats allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. During the event, Dr. Philip Lee led a session titled “Future Prospect of InsurTech”, where he shared his insights on emerging trends and the growing demand for talent in the FinTech and insurance sectors. Mr. Bosco Tsin delivered an engaging talk on “Insurance for Cybersecurity Risk: A Marketing Perspective”, offering valuable insights into this critical area. Additionally, Dr. Arvin Tang, Director of the Multimedia Systems and Analytics team in the AI and Trust Technologies Division at ASTRI (Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute Company Limited), presented an innovative topic on the “Next Generation of Federated Learning for Data Evaluation.”
The symposium concluded with a lively panel discussion featuring professional members from the insurance industry, who shared their expertise and perspectives on the future of the field.
Dr. Philip Lee expressed his optimism about strengthening collaboration with the Chartered Insurance Institute and ASTRI, emphasizing that such partnerships will play a vital role in enhancing the professional development of students in the FinTech programme. He also extended his heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Kenny Siu, Regional Director of CIIHK, for his invaluable support in making the event a success.
