The career seminar “HKMA x HKIB Career Talk: Your Fast Track to the Banking Industry in Hong Kong” was successfully held on March 6, 2026, drawing over 50 participants.

During the session, Dr. Kate Kwan (Senior Manager, Professional Assessment and Strategic Partnership, Professional Competence Development, The Hong Kong Institute of Bankers) shared valuable insights into the evolving landscape of the banking sector. Students gained a deeper understanding of the shift toward digitalization and the increasing demand for "future-ready" talent. Dr. Kwan also provided practical job-hunting strategies, including advice on navigating competitive recruitment practices and the importance of continuous professional development. Her expert perspective equipped students with a clearer roadmap for transitioning from the classroom to the corporate world.

Dr. Philip Lee, Associate Head of the Department of Economics and Finance, expressed optimism regarding the strengthening collaboration between HKIB and the FinTech bachelor programme at Shue Yan. He highlighted that through ECF-Fintech modular exemptions, students only need to complete Module 3 to become an ECF Affiliate. This professional qualification offers a significant competitive edge in job applications, and Dr. Lee is confident that FinTech students are well-prepared to achieve this milestone and kickstart their banking careers.
